Germantown, TN – Kitchen, Bar, Mudroom, and Laundry (not shown)
With a focus on refined simplicity and elevated function, this kitchen was thoughtfully transformed through subtle yet impactful updates. By removing the bulky soffits and simplifying the layout from a U-shape to an L-shape, we opened up the space to feel lighter and more expansive. The cooktop was relocated off the island, making way for a larger professional range that anchors the kitchen with classic presence. Dark wood cabinets were replaced with soft painted finishes, creating a serene backdrop that feels both timeless and fresh. The result is a bright, welcoming space where simple elegance meets everyday practicality.

An underutilized closet was reimagined as a built-in mudroom, offering the perfect drop zone by the garage complete with a cubby for each family member. The space was designed deep enough to include hangers – not just hooks – so jackets can hang neatly alongside stored school bags. Baskets below provide a perfect home for shoes, keeping them out of the walkway yet easy to grab on the go.

Tucked neatly behind doors, this refreshed bar keeps the hidden functionality the homeowners liked while offering a more elevated look. Removing the bar sink created valuable counter space for entertaining, while allowing us to incorporate a combination wine/beverage fridge. Added by the interior designer, the warm wood floating shelves with a brass gallery rail bring character and charm and the deep green tile adds a rich sophisticated contrast – making this compact bar both practical and beautifully refined.
